Lebron bypassed the Miami bumper to bumper traffic via police escort on his way to the highly acclaimed concert with Justin Timberlake and Jay-Z this past Friday (August 16th).
The problem is this escort was not an escort nor followed their police departments policies. The department released a statement:
“It has been brought to our attention that a video was posted on the internet by LeBron James, a professional basketball player, where it shows him being escorted onto the property of Sun Life Stadium.
Upon further investigation, it has been confirmed that Miami-Dade Police facilitated Mr. James from one intersection to another in the adjacent area of the stadium. His was not a scheduled escort and although all safety precautions were taken, the department has identified these actions as violated department policies.”
Bottom line, lets say he was completely innocent of accusations of being “above the law” as many critics have shared.
I feel the message we must take away from this is that we should not shoot ourselves in the foot via social media. For example, a lot of prime-time college level athletes may have posts on their Social Media with beer or prescription drugs in their hands at a party. We all enjoy a good party, but somethings should stay private sometimes. Maybe this isn’t the exact image you want to portray or want the whole world to know.
Nonetheless, I hope who ever was at the concert had a great time, including Lebron!
